The Trickfilm Festival Düsseldorf 2024

This year, the Düsseldorf Animated Film Festival once again highlights the versatility of contemporary animation art in its program. The range of films and perspectives presented spans from classic hand-drawn short films to experimental and generative video works. A talk and a workshop will provide deeper insights into the subject of animation.

This year, the festival will take place on two dates.
On Thursday, September 26th, illustrator and animation artist Raman Djafari will offer insights into his work. At the HSD campus, he will lead a workshop for students and interested participants, and later in the evening (exact times to follow) he will give a talk. In previous years, we have had the pleasure of showcasing his videos as part of our festival. Djafari is known for his psychedelic music videos for artists like Dua Lipa, FJAAK, and Elton John.

The festival continues on Saturday, September 28th, at the Düsseldorf Filmwerkstatt. Starting at 7 PM, attendees can enjoy video works with a drink.

At 8 PM we welcome Jonatan Schwenk for a talk. Jonatan is an animation artist, director and sound designer. Last year we had the pleasure of presenting his short film ‘Zoon’.

At 9:30 PM, the screening of the official Open Call Selection will begin. The approximately two-hour program will showcase the best short films and animations selected from over 130 international submissions. Following this, a loop of animated music videos will play until midnight.
